RG Kar Medical College and Hospital again in the news, sick young man kept suffering, died due to 'negligence'! | News India

Kolkata, September 14 (HS). Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital is in the news again. Here an ailing youth from Nadia district died due to lack of proper treatment. The family is shocked by the death of 24-year-old Nand Biswas.

Father Jyotish Biswas said that Nand was suffering from fever for three days. When his condition did not improve, he was admitted to RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata on Monday. On reaching here, Nand got immediate treatment and his condition improved a little. The father alleges that since Tuesday, neither any doctor nor any nurse came to see him. Even saline was stopped from being given, although saline was written in the prescription.

He told that on Thursday morning Nand's condition started deteriorating rapidly. His urination and bowel movement also stopped. Foam started coming out of his mouth. He kept going to the doctors and pleading for help, but no one came to help him. After a lot of pleading, a doctor arrived and started giving CPR (chest compression) to Nand, but by then it was too late. The doctor told that his son is no more in this world.

Nand's mother also said sadly, “We are poor, is there no value of our life? My son died without treatment, will we get any justice for this?” The victim's family is deeply saddened and angry by this incident. They are demanding strict action against those responsible for their son's death. Nand's brother alleges that when he repeatedly pleaded with the doctors, he was told that if he wanted, he should get treatment in a big private hospital.

It is noteworthy that this painful incident has come to light when the junior doctors are on strike in RG Kar Hospital. The strike of junior doctors has increased the pressure of extra work on senior doctors, although the doctors claim that the services in the hospital have not been affected.

The state government has said that about seven lakh people have been deprived of medical services and 29 people have died due to this strike. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
