Reviewed election preparations for smooth conduct of assembly elections | News India

Jammu, August 19 (HS). District Election Officer Ramban Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary chaired a meeting of officers to discuss the preparations of the district for the Assembly Elections-2024. The meeting focused on ensuring free, fair and transparent election process.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kulbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjit Singh, Returning Officer AC-54 Ramban Harpal Singh, RO for AC-55 Banihal Rizwan Asgar, (SDM) Ramsoo Ghansham Basotra, Deputy District Election Officer Abdul Jabar, AROs, Nodal officers and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the DEO emphasized the importance of following the rules, regulations and guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India to ensure a level playing field for all contestants including political parties and independent candidates. He also outlined the roles and responsibilities of various departments and officials during the ongoing election preparations and stressed the need for effective communication. The DEO reviewed the arrangements related to communication, security, transportation, training, polling stations and other important components of the election process.

The DEO issued directions for strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct across the district during the election period. He also directed the officials to ensure that essential services and supplies remain uninterrupted despite election activities. The DEO also directed all surveillance teams and flying squads to ensure vigilant vigil as per guidelines to curb unethical and illegal activities during the election across the district.

SSP Kulbir Singh discussed various points regarding security and law and order during the election period. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts between the level of officers and various departments to ensure smooth conduct of elections across the district.
