Revenue Minister Verma inaugurated paddy procurement at Sankara Procurement Center

Raipur 14 November (His). Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma inaugurated the purchase of paddy at support price by offering formal puja in village Sankara of Tilda development block on Thursday. On this occasion, he said that paddy procurement, one of the top priorities of the government, has started in the state today. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, schemes are being implemented for prosperity, self-reliance, development and happiness in the lives of farmers. Paddy will be purchased from farmers at support price from today, 14 November 2024 to 31 January 2025, in all 2739 procurement centers of the state. On this occasion, he announced Rs 10 lakh for the construction of a shed at Sankara Procurement Centre.

It is noteworthy that arrangements for procurement have been made through biometric devices in all the procurement centres. Paddy grown by small, marginal and big farmers will be purchased at the fixed support price. For this, the system of token application has been started from 7th November itself. In the procurement season, small and marginal farmers will be eligible for a maximum of 2 tokens and big farmers will be eligible for 3 tokens. Arrangements for electronic weighing for weighing have been made in the procurement centres. Instructions have been given to get the paddy lifted from the procurement centers through millers and transporters as per time. Arrangements for adequate gunny bags, shade, water etc. have been made for the farmers in all the procurement centres.

Helpline numbers have also been posted to resolve any problem or complaint of the farmers who have come to sell paddy in the procurement centres. A control room has also been established for grievance redressal at the marketing association headquarters level, whose number is 0771-2425463. Markfed has made arrangements for timely payment to farmers selling paddy. Arrangement of “Micro ATM” is also being provided in the committees for withdrawal of funds, so that the farmers can get convenience. The amount will be transferred to the bank account of the farmers within 72 hours of the sale of paddy in the committee.
