Who is Sachith Mehra?
Sachit Mehra is an Indian Canadian citizen whose father migrated to Canada from New Delhi in the 1960s. After moving there, he established a chain of restaurants called East India Company Restaurants in Winnipeg and Ottawa, which is still Sachit Mehra’s family business.
Sachith Mehra is a resident of Winnipeg city of Manitoba province. He has been managing the business since 1994. Sachith East India Company is seen as the owner of the restaurant as well as its management. Mehra is also very active in community development work.
From 2013 to 2016, he was the President of his hometown Winnipeg Downtown Biz where he worked to promote economic development and improve the area. Mehra has also been working to raise funds for charity. He also chaired the charity fundraiser Masala Mixer event, which raised over $75,000 for Victoria General Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association of Manitoba. Due to his interest in politics, he joined the Liberal Party and was elected as the party president in May 2023.
Why did Sahit Mehra’s importance increase in the party after Trudeau’s resignation?
