Responding to Taiwan's increased messaging, Modi said India seeks closer ties with Taiwan

Taipei: Taiwan has rejected China's objections to the exchange of messages between Narendra Modi and Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te. He said that China is spreading political pressure and confusion to mislead the world.

Actually, Taiwan's President had sent a congratulatory message to Narendra Modi for his victory in the Lok Sabha elections held in India. In response to this, Modi said that India is keen to build close relations with Taiwan. China is upset with Modi. Expressing his opposition, he said that New Delhi should oppose the diplomatic steps of Taiwanese officials.

China considers Taiwan as its rebellious integral part. It wants to annex it to the mainland (Communist China).

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ling told reporters that China has lodged a protest against India.

Taiwan President Lai Ching wrote on the post, “My heartiest congratulations for the election victory.” I also hope that we will move forward rapidly and take the India-Taiwan partnership forward in the direction of trade and technology partnership. So that we can contribute to peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

In response, Modi tweeted, “Ching Te Lai, thank you for your warm message. We look forward to even closer ties as we move forward in mutually beneficial economic and technological areas.” The exchange of these messages on Friday has angered China. But Taiwan said that we are not going to be afraid of your threats.
