Arun Goyal visited some states with Rajiv Kumar and saw how the election preparations were going on. Now suddenly he has hastily left his post. The President has accepted his resignation. It has been clarified by the President's Office that this resignation has been accepted from 9 March 2024 i.e. today.
Arun Goyal's appointment in controversy
Arun Goyal is a 1985 batch IS officer. He took voluntary retirement on 18 November 2022. Immediately after this, i.e. on 19 November 2022, he was appointed Election Commissioner. His appointment was surrounded by controversies. This appointment was also challenged in the Supreme Court. If Arun Goyal has taken voluntary retirement then why was he given the post of Election Commissioner so soon? The Supreme Court had asked the government.
