Research students gave a powerful performance in BHU Faculty of Music and Performing Arts

Varanasi, 01 August (HS). In the Thursday program series organized in the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the research students of the singing department gave a powerful performance. The program began traditionally with the singing of the prayer “Shri Ramchandra Kripalu Bhaj Man”. Research students of the singing department Shreya Pandey, Alankrita Roy and Balukabella jointly presented the prayer. The students were accompanied by Abhinandan Mishra on tabla and Ujjwal Sahni on harmonium.

The formal program started after garlanding the statue of Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya, the founder of the university. Students of the Faculty's Instrumental Department, Pratyush Kumar Mehta and Abhishek Singh created the atmosphere by playing a duet of flute. After Alaap, Jod and Jhala in Raga Hansdhwani, both the students presented Gat in Vilambit Rupak, Madhyalay and Drut Teentaal. Piyush Kumar accompanied them on the tabla. This program organized in the Faculty's Pandit Lalmani Instrumental Museum was presided over by Faculty Head Prof. Sangeeta Pandit. The program was conducted by Research Student of Singing Department, Aparna Pandey and the vote of thanks was given by Assistant Professor of Dance Department, Dr. Khileswari Patel. Students of the department attended the program.
