Report submitted on assets and liabilities, discussion on pension continues

Ramgarh, May 28 (HS). A marathon meeting of officials regarding the merger of Ramgarh Cantonment Board with the Municipal Body was concluded on Tuesday. Along with the Ramgarh District Administration, officials of the Municipal Council, Health Department, Education Department and other departments also participated in this meeting held in Ranchi. However, this meeting was limited to discussions and brainstorming. The committee formed for the merger has not been able to reach any concrete decision. The Municipal Council will have to prepare its report on some other issues as well. The next meeting has been scheduled on June 18 on the issue of merger. It is expected that consensus will be reached on all the issues on that day.

In the meeting, the city council presented a complete report related to the property and liabilities of the Cantonment Board. Apart from this, a complete report has also been submitted regarding the salary and pension of 152 employees currently working in the Cantonment Board. The officials present from the state government and the Ministry of Defense expressed their views on the report. The biggest obstacle in this has emerged regarding the future pension plan. The Ministry of Defense is insisting on the state government to bear this burden. However, the Ministry of Defense is also talking about paying the pension of the employees retiring at present. The issue was also raised by the Ramgarh administration that at what rate the tender for the park built in the Cantonment Board area is being done and at what rate the holding tax is being collected, the report of this is also not complete yet.

Health and education departments may also get more responsibilities

There are not only sweepers, clerks and officers in the Ramgarh Cantonment Board area. Doctors, teachers and employees are also present in the hospitals, schools and parks built in the cantonment area. The state government does not want to put the entire burden of the cantonment on the Municipal Board at once. The health department may get the responsibility of hospitals. The burden of schools may increase on the education department. If the employees of the park and cantonment board are accommodated in the municipal body, then their salary will be paid by the municipal body only.

4000 houses built without map approval can become a headache

In Ramgarh Cantonment Board area, discussions have also been held regarding the objections to the construction of high-rise buildings within a radius of 100 meters from the boundary of the camp area. The district administration informed that earlier this radius was 30 meters, which was later increased to 50 meters. Now this radius has been increased to 100 meters, which does not seem appropriate for a small city like Ramgarh. Apart from this, more than 4000 houses have been constructed in the Cantonment Board area without getting the map approved, which can prove to be a difficult task to vacate.
