Reply sought from UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board in the matter of relaxation in age limit

Prayagraj, 20 February (HS). Allahabad High Court has sought reply from the state government and UP Police Recruitment Board in the matter of five years relaxation in age limit for Computer Operator Grade-A Recruitment-2023 in the Police Department. Police Recruitment Board has issued advertisement for the appointment of 930 Computer Operators.

Justice Prakash Padia has given this order on the petition of Premdhan Kumar and others. The petitioner says that the state government has given relaxation of three years in the age limit of Uttar Pradesh Police constable recruitment. The recruitment of Police Computer Operator Grade A has come after seven years, hence in order of Covid 19 and the instructions of the Supreme Court in the case of Manish Kumar vs Union of India and Govind Kumar vs State of UP, this recruitment exam also has to be held after at least five years. Should be given exemption.

The petition states that non-relaxation of age limit violates Fundamental Rights 14 (equality before law) and Article 16 (equality of opportunity in matters of public employment) of the Constitution.

Considering the matter as a matter for consideration, the court has sought a reply from the state government and the Police Recruitment Board on the petition within six weeks and has asked the petitioner to file a counter affidavit within two weeks.
