Melbourne, May 13 (HS). Melbourne Renegades have appointed Wade Seccombe and Melbourne Stars have appointed former Australian fast bowler Clint McCoy as their new high performance manager.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Secombe coached the Brisbane Heat to their second BBL title earlier this year, but he stepped down as Heat and Queensland coach following a review by Queensland Cricket due to the team's poor performance in the men's Sheffield Shield tournament. Was removed.
Secombe will move from Brisbane to Melbourne at the end of the month to take up a full-time role with the Renegades.
McCoy moves to his new role from the Stars' backroom staff, where he was the bowling coach. McCoy has been regularly included in Australia's coaching set-up over the past two years as a stand-in white-ball bowling coach.
Both appointments will bring greater synergy between the two BBL clubs and Victoria's high performance program which is run by Graham Manou.
“It is really pleasing to have two individuals of the caliber of Clint and Wade join our cricket showcase program at Cricket Victoria and to work closely with both of our Big Bash clubs,” Manou said in a statement.
He further added, “They will play a key role in the talent management and identification process with a special focus on T20 skills and potential. “They will also be an active part of our existing elite and development programmes, bringing a renewed emphasis on T20 cricket within our programmes.”
Secombe's first task will be to oversee the recruitment of a new head coach at the Renegades after David Sacks was sacked with a year left on his contract.
