India-Canada Conflict: Relations between India and Canada are deteriorating. Recently, Canada named the Indian High Commissioner in Ottawa as a suspect in the murder of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India denied the allegations and recalled six of its diplomats. Canada's Foreign Minister says, 'Notice has also been given to the Indian diplomats remaining in the country.'

India expels six Canadian diplomats

“The government will not tolerate any diplomat who violates the Vienna Convention or puts the lives of Canadians at risk,” Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie said on Friday (Oct. 18). India expelled six Canadian diplomats on Monday. It also rejected Ottawa's allegations of implicating the Indian ambassador in the investigation into the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The Indian government announced that it was recalling its High Commissioner to Canada.

'We have never seen anything like this in history'

Comparing India with Russia, Jolie said, 'The National Police Force of Canada has linked Indian diplomats in Canada to murder and death threats. We have never seen anything like this in our history. This level of international repression cannot happen on Canadian soil. We have seen this in Europe. Russia has done this in Germany and Britain and we need to be firm on this issue.

Tension in India-Canada relations after Nijjar's murder

There has been a long standing diplomatic dispute between India and Canada after the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Due to this, India recalled its diplomats from Canada and also expelled Canadian diplomats. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have alleged that agents of the Indian government are involved in criminal activities against Canadian citizens on Canadian soil. India has not cooperated with Canada in the investigation of this matter. However, India denied the allegations and described them as baseless.
