Prayagraj, 21 May (HS). Allahabad High Court has given big relief to former minister Rakesh Dhar Tripathi in the disproportionate assets case. The bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh has granted his bail in the disproportionate assets case and put a stay on the sentence. The court also stayed the sentence of Rs 10 lakh fine imposed on Tripathi by the lower court.
According to the facts of the case, on 18 June 2013, a case was registered against Rakesh Dhar Tripathi in the Mutthiganj police station of Prayagraj in the disproportionate assets case. It was alleged that while being a minister in the BSP government, he had acquired assets disproportionate to his known income. The MP-MLA Special Court of Prayagraj held Rakesh Dhar guilty in the case and sentenced him to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 lakh. Tripathi had challenged this decision.
Tripathi's advocate Santosh Kumar Tripathi said that he was implicated due to political malice. The High Court had reserved its decision in this case after hearing the arguments of all the parties. The court has given relief to the former minister by giving the verdict in this case today.
