Bushra Bibi, wife of former Pakistan PM Imran Khan, has been released from jail after 265 days. On Wednesday, Islamabad High Court granted him bail in the Toshakha case. The officer investigating the case told the court that there is no need for any further investigation in this matter in future.
What are Toshakha cases?
The most controversial case of Pakistan is the Toshakha case. Toshakhana is a department of the government. Where the gifts received by the Prime Minister or Government of Pakistan are kept. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan is accused of buying and keeping gifts worth Rs 14 crore at cheap prices during the year 2018 to 2022. These included many expensive gifts including watches, rings and expensive pens.
Bushra Bibi was arrested on January 31 this year after the court sentenced her to 14 years in jail in the Toshkha case. On Wednesday, Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb accepted the bail plea of the former first lady and granted her bail on a surety bond of Rs 10 lakh.
Released after 24 hours of bail
A team of lawyers of former PM Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi reached Gate No. 5 of Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Thursday with the release order and after completing the process, Bushra Bibi was released. PTI's lawyers said they could not post the bail bond due to the absence of any officer on Wednesday, due to which Bushra Bibi's release took more than 24 hours.
Bushra Bibi released from jail after 265 days
According to the information, due to the absence of Senior Special Judge Shahrukh Arjumand and Special Judge Humayun Dilawar on Wednesday, it took 24 hours for the Islamabad Accountability Court to issue the release order. As soon as the release order was received on Thursday, a team of lawyers reached Adiala jail and after 265 days, the former Prime Minister's wife was released. Imran Khan is also lodged in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail for the last one year. The Government of Pakistan has leveled many allegations against him including the Toshakha scam.
