Prayagraj Division of North Central Railway has decided to run a special MEMU train for the devotees visiting Prayagraj during the Kumbh Mela. Railways is preparing to start 'Fast Ring Memu' service for the first time for the darshan of Ramlala in Ayodhya and Baba Vishwanath in Varanasi. Divisional Railway Manager Himanshu Badoni told in Prayagraj that this 'Fast Ring Memu' service will reach Prayagraj from Prayagraj via Ayodhya and Varanasi. He told that similarly another train will reach Prayagraj from Prayagraj via Varanasi and Ayodhya.
Preparation to run 825 trains on peak days
DRM said that the train service will be available mainly on all days except Snan festivals. 2 MEMU services (one for Varanasi and the other for Ayodhya) will be run daily from Prayag Raj. Prayagraj Mandal is going to start this service for the first time in Kumbh Mela. Badoni said that preparations have been made to run 825 trains during the busy days of Kumbh Mela. In the last Kumbh Mela held in 2019, 694 trains were run on the peak day. He said that these trains will be for short distance travel i.e. up to 200 kilometers.
A total of 1225 trains will be run
Further informed that North Central Railway has given permission to run 400 trains for long distances. In this way, a total of 1225 trains will be run during the fair. The special emphasis of Railways is on minimizing the possibility of any kind of danger. For which all three zones of Railways, North Central Railway, Northern Railway and North Eastern Railway are preparing on war footing. Prayagraj has 4 stations of North Central Railway, 3 stations of Northern Railway and 2 stations of North Eastern Railway. For the convenience of passengers, Prayagraj division has set up a toll free number 1800-4199-139 which will become operational from November 1.
Special preparations for the convenience of devotees
DRM said that passengers will be able to get information about all types of facilities in their mother tongue from anywhere on the toll free number. He said that before the Kumbh Mela, 21 railway overbridges or railway underbridges will become operational in Prayagraj, which will help in reducing the crowd. Apart from this, an integrated fare control tower has been installed at Prayagraj Junction which will play an important role in controlling the crowd. During the fair, 2,200 personnel of the Railway Protection Force and 8,000 personnel from other districts will be deployed for the convenience of the devotees.
