A very relieving and encouraging news has come out from the National Testing Agency (NTA) for lakhs of youth who are dreaming of becoming Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in the universities and colleges of the country. After making major amendments in the dates of UGC NET (UGC NET 2026) examination to be held for the academic session 2026, NTA has also extended the last date of online registration. After this sudden change in the examination schedule, students across the country were confused and were continuously demanding that they should be given some more extra time to fill the application form. Keeping in mind this problem and practical problems of the students, NTA has taken a big decision, which has given a sigh of relief to all those candidates who due to some reason could not fill their form within the stipulated time limit or could not make corrections in their application.
According to the official information released by the National Testing Agency, due to administrative reasons and conflict with the dates of other entrance examinations and semester exams going on in various educational institutions across the country, it became necessary to amend the previously scheduled exam dates of UGC NET 2026. It was requested by many students and universities that there should be a slight change in the exam dates so that they can prepare for the exam without any mental stress. Keeping in view the widespread interest of the students, NTA has released a new calendar of examinations, under which the examinations will now be conducted a few days ahead of the scheduled dates. Due to this reshuffle in the exam dates, the agency has also decided to extend the deadline for the online application process so that both new and old applicants can complete their process without any hurry.
If you also missed applying for UGC NET 2026 or wanted to make some amendments in your form, then you now have a golden opportunity. Under the new deadline extended by NTA, now candidates can visit the official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in and fill their online application form successfully before the last date. The agency has clarified that candidates will also be provided additional time to pay the application fee during the extended dates. Along with this, the correction window will also be opened again to make corrections in the application form so that if any student has made any error while filling the form, he can correct it in time. Students are advised to complete their registration as soon as possible without waiting for the last date as there is every possibility of technical problems due to heavy traffic on the server in the last days.
UGC NET exam is one of the toughest and prestigious exams in the country, in which lakhs of youth appear every year. This change in exam dates has given students a few more precious days to further strengthen their preparation. Experts believe that students whose syllabus was not yet completed can make good use of this extra time to strengthen their grip on their weak topics. Apart from this, solving previous years question papers and giving mock tests will prove to be most beneficial during this period. NTA will also soon release the exam admit card and city allotment information on its official website, hence candidates are requested to keep a constant eye on the portal and rely only on official notifications to avoid any rumor.
