Former Congress leader Yogananda Shastri had resigned ahead of the 2020 assembly elections in Delhi due to differences with former city unit president Subhash Chopra. After this Yogananda Shastri joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in November 2021. He joined the party in the presence of NCP president Sharad Pawar. Along with this he said that the Congress party of the time of Jawaharlal Nehru is no more, it has changed. Therefore he has decided to leave the party.
