So this is also an increase in a way. Let's take a look at the benefits of Jio's Rs 999 plan.
Benefits of Reliance Jio's new Rs 999 plan
Jio's Rs 999 plan comes with a service validity of 98 days. A very odd number of days for customers to choose from. This 98-day service validity plan comes with unlimited voice calling benefits, 100 SMS/day, and 2GB daily data. Since this is a 2GB daily data plan, it also comes with unlimited 5G data.
The daily cost of the Rs 999 plan is Rs 10.19, which is quite expensive compared to what Indians are used to in this validity range. However, if you look at it only from the perspective of daily cost, the Rs 999 plan is less expensive than before.
Before the tariff hike, the Rs 999 plan came with a validity of 84 days and 3GB daily data. So at that time, the daily cost of using this plan was Rs 11.89. However, the average data cost was much cheaper – Rs 3.96 for each GB.
Now, after the plan validity has been increased to 98 days, the average daily cost has become cheaper, but the average cost of each GB of data has increased. With the Rs 999 plan, 1 GB of data now costs Rs 10.40, which is 160% (approximately, the actual figure will be higher) more expensive than before, which was Rs 3.96.
