According to a report, screenwriter Anil Kumar claimed in 2010 that he had written a story based on the Indian football team's exit from the 1950 FIFA World Cup and the same story was submitted to screenwriters in Bombay with the title Padanduka. He also posted this story on LinkedIn.
Anil Kumar claimed that 'Meydan' assistant director Suhadas Suryavanshi had talked to Anil Kumar in 2019 and he had promised to introduce me to Aamir Khan. But due to some reason the meeting could not take place. He called me to Bombay with the script, so I gave him the story and got it registered with the Screen Writers Association.
After which I heard that the film 'Maiden' is coming. I was surprised because this is my story. When I heard the teaser and his statement I knew, this is my story. They have slightly twisted the main story.
After which Anil Kumar, with the help of his lawyer Iyana, sought a permanent injunction against the release of the film in the Principal District and Sessions Court of Mysore. On April 8, the court had ordered Zee Studios to stop the release of the Bollywood film.
Now Mysore Principal District and Sessions Court has fixed the next hearing for 24th April.
Based on a true story, the film 'Maiden' is based on the life of the country's most popular football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. He dedicated his life to football and made India very proud. Ajay Devgan is playing the role of Syed Abdul Rahim in the film.
