The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a major update regarding the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2027) to be conducted for admission to the most prestigious engineering institutes of the country. Along with starting the online application process for the first session (Session-1) of JEE Main 2027, NTA has officially announced several important changes in the exam structure and dates.
Every year lakhs of students appear for this examination for admission to courses like B.Tech, B.E., B.Arch and B.Planning. This time the new guidelines implemented by the examination agency are going to directly impact the preparation and application strategy of the candidates. Through this report, we are providing you detailed information about all the major changes made by NTA, new exam dates and necessary steps of application.
According to the latest notification issued by the National Testing Agency, there has been a partial change in the exam dates of JEE Main 2027 Session-1. Now this examination will be conducted starting from the last week of January till the first week of February.
Candidates are advised to visit the official website of NTA and submit their application forms carefully within the stipulated time limit. The last date for depositing online fees for Session-1 and the time period for correction window in the form have also been fixed. Candidates will have to keep a constant eye on the NTA portal for information about the exam center city (Exam City Intimation Slip) and to download the admit card.
The biggest change in the JEE Main 2027 exam is being seen in the question paper format and marking scheme. This time, NTA has reinstated the old standard by removing the options given in numerical value questions of Section B. Now candidates will have to answer all the mandatory questions.
Additionally, the rules for negative marking have been made more transparent and stringent. While 4 marks will be given for the correct answer, 1 mark will be deducted for the wrong answer. The rules for Artificial Intelligence (AI) monitoring and biometric verification have also been strengthened to maintain fairness and accuracy in the Computer Based Examination (CBT Mode).
While filling the form of JEE Main 2027 Session-1, candidates will have to upload several required documents in the new format. These include recent passport size color photograph, scanned signature, Aadhar Card or any valid photo identity card, and Category Certificate.
NTA has made Aadhaar-based e-KYC and One-Time Registration (OTR) system mandatory this time to prevent fraud and mistakes while filling the form. The 75% marks criteria or the top 20 percentile rule of the concerned board has been kept in force for B.Tech admission.
Experts and educationists say that due to this change in exam pattern and dates, students will have to rearrange their revision strategy. It will be fruitful to practice mock tests and previous years’ question papers as per the new question format.
Candidates should avoid any fake links or rumors on social media and follow only the authentic instructions available on the official website of NTA jeemain.nta.nic.in. If any kind of technical problem occurs while filling the application form, candidates can immediately contact the helpline numbers issued by NTA.
