Lakhimpur Kheri, 05 September (HS). The district is suffering from the horror of severe floods and the destruction of crops. In such a situation, the Red Cross team of Kheri district visited the flood-affected areas and along with assessing the loss of life, a plan was prepared to provide assistance.

Red Cross team chairman Dr Ravindra Sharma said that the team inspected village Madanpur in Nighasan area and village Mathurpur in Ramiyabahed area first hand and talked to the people of the area to assess the flood and erosion. During this time, the link road from Nighasan Palia main road to village Madanpur was found cut in many places, due to which the local residents have to leave the main road and travel through the fields. The Red Cross team also reached the place of erosion through the fields etc. and tried to assess the erosion first hand.

During the inspection at Majra Raniganj of Village Madanpur, it was found that three concrete houses were destroyed in the flood disaster here. Information was obtained by talking to the members of the submerged houses. After Village Madanpur, late in the evening the Red Cross Team visited Ramiyabahed Village Mathurpur and enquired about the loss of life and property. After talking to Village Pradhan Vikas, it was found that nearly 200 meters of cultivable land along with crops has been swallowed by the flood and the residents living near the river are forced to uproot their homes and migrate far away.

As it was late evening, more information could not be collected. Soon the Red Cross team will visit once again and identify the houses and people affected by the flood in both the above villages. Relief material will be collected from the Red Cross headquarters and distributed to the disaster affected people as soon as possible under the leadership of the District Magistrate. In village Madanpur, Red Cross team chairman Dr Ravindra Sharma, secretary Aarti Shrivastava, treasurer Vijay Yadav, life member Anurag Saxena and nodal Dr Dhaniram nominated by the Chief Medical Officer were present.
