‘Red alert’ of fog on Purvanchal: Scene like night even during day, know when will we get relief from this ‘whiteout’?

Gorakhpur/Varanasi: Eastern Uttar Pradesh is currently witnessing a different and harsh form of weather in the month of December. Here, dense fog and severe cold have combined to make the condition of people miserable. For the past several days, big cities like Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar and Varanasi have not only been wrapped in dense fog, but increased pollution has also doubled the problems of the people.

How will the weather be today? Danger of ‘zero visibility’

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a new update, which does not seem to be giving any relief at the moment.

• Today (December 20): The Meteorological Department says that today the weather will remain dry in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Deoria and Kushinagar, but an alert has been issued for dense to very dense fog in these districts. This means that visibility can be almost zero in the early morning and late evening.
• Tomorrow (21st December): The situation is expected to remain almost similar the next day also. The weather will be clear, but a blanket of dense fog may remain.
• No hope of rain: It is a matter of relief that at present there is no possibility of rain in any district of Eastern UP.

‘Red alert’ issued, what is the condition of ‘cold day’?

The Meteorological Department has predicted that during the next 24 to 48 hours, dense to very dense fog may prevail in many parts of UP, due to which ‘Cold Day’ like conditions will prevail. ‘Cold day’ means when there is no sunlight during the day and due to fog, the day temperature also remains much below normal, due to which one feels cold throughout the day.

In view of the current serious situation, the Meteorological Department has also issued Orange Alert for some districts of UP and Red Alert for some very sensitive districts.

When will we get relief? Western disturbance is coming

However, some relief from this dense fog and cold is expected soon. According to the Meteorological Department, a new Western Disturbance will become active in a day or two. Due to its effect, the temperature may gradually increase and the density of fog may also reduce, due to which some improvement in the weather will be seen.
