The Central government on Thursday told the Supreme Court that it will implement the recommendations of the expert committee regarding the NEET-UG exam. The government had constituted a seven-member expert committee to review the functioning of the National Testing Agency, which conducted the NEET-UG exam last year. This committee will recommend improvements in the examination.

On August 2 last year, the Supreme Court had rejected the petition seeking re-conduct of the NEET-UG exam. Rejecting the petition, the top court said that there is no sufficient evidence of paper leakage or confusion during the examination. The Supreme Court also directed to extend the tenure of the seven-member committee. It is noteworthy that former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan is serving as the chairman of this expert committee. This committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of making the examination transparent and free from any kind of irregularities.

On Thursday, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, told the court that the Centre-appointed committee has submitted its report and the government will implement all the recommendations. Mehta said that we are implementing all the recommendations and it can be listed after six months. The Supreme Court bench said that the case is adjourned for three months. After this the bench directed to list the matter in April.
