Reasi bus accident: CISF buses going on election duty collide, one jawan killed; 3 injured | News India

Reasi: A bus carrying CISF jawans going from Reasi to Chasana Mahaur for election duty met with an unfortunate accident at Jyotipuram on Thursday.

Four CISF personnel were injured in this accident, one of whom was seriously injured and died while being taken to Jammu hospital. Out of the three injured, two are being treated at Jammu Medical College and one at Reasi District Hospital.

CISF personnel were travelling in two buses

The incident happened when CISF jawans left for election duty from Chasana Mahor in two buses. According to the information, when both the buses were climbing a steep hill in Jyotipuram after covering a distance of about 8 km from the district headquarters, suddenly the front bus developed a fault, due to which it stopped on the hill. The driver of the second bus also stopped his bus behind the front bus.

Meanwhile, the front bus collided with the previous bus going behind it. Due to this, the bus behind it lost control and started moving backwards. Before anyone could understand or do anything, after moving a few meters backwards, the left tire of the rear bus fell into the drain on the side of the road and the rear left part of the bus collided with the hill, but the bus kept moving. Four soldiers died in the collision on the side of the hill.

The soldiers were admitted to the hospital

Immediately after the accident, CISF personnel got down from the buses and started relief and rescue operations. Security personnel posted at the main gate of Jyotipuram Colony also reached the spot to help. Four injured soldiers were immediately brought to Reasi District Hospital for treatment, where after first aid, three injured soldiers were referred to Jammu Hospital, but one soldier died on the way.

A CISF jawan died in the accident

The jawan who lost his life in the accident has been identified as Neeraj Kumar Singh, son of Rajwant Singh (55), a resident of Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, while the two injured who were referred to Jammu have been identified as Constable Akhilesh Saha (42) and Constable RC Nath (50).

Injured Jawan Aditya (38) is being treated at Reasi District Hospital. It is not yet clear why the driver could not control the bus while reversing it and whether both the drivers were on the driver's seat or got down. At present, the police have registered a case in this regard and started action.
