Rear Admiral G Rambabu has taken over as Principal of the Indian Naval Academy. Admiral G Rambabu assumed charge as Principal of INA on 01 September 2024. G Rambabu was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 04 February 1991.
Rear Admiral G Rambabu has served in the Indian Navy for over 33 years. The Flag Officer has held several important appointments at NHQ, including Commodore (Naval Education), Commodore Director (Naval Operational Data Processing and Analysis Centre), Kochi and Inspecting Officer at Sainik Schools Society. He has also served as Principal of two Sainik Schools, Ambikapur and Thiruvananthapuram. The Flag Officer has completed Advanced Course in Meteorology at IMD Pune and Oceanography at CUSAT Kochi and UN PG Course on Satellite Meteorology and Global Climate at ISRO Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad.
G Rambabu holds MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies and M.Phil in Oceanography. In recognition of his dedication to the service of the nation, the Flag Officer was awarded the Chief of Naval Staff Commendation in 2000 and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Commendation in 1995 and 2010. G Rambabu was awarded the General Lenten Medal during his Staff Course. The CY has also presented and published papers in 15 national, international seminars including the seminar held at Helsinki, Finland.
