Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das has emerged as the top central banker globally for the second consecutive year. For the second year in a row, Das has been ranked as the top central banker globally by the US-based Global Finance magazine. Regarding this, the RBI wrote in a post on x that it is happy to announce that RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has been given an 'A+' rating in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2024 for the second consecutive year. According to Bhasha News, Das tops the list of three central bank governors who have been given an A+ rating.

Grades based on a scale of A to F

According to a statement by Global Finance magazine, the grades are based on a scale of A to F for success in inflation control, economic growth targets, currency stability and interest rate management. 'A' denotes outstanding performance, while 'F' denotes complete failure. Christian Ketel Thomsen of Denmark, Shaktikanta Das of India and Thomas Jordan of Switzerland have been placed in the 'A+' category of central bankers.

High interest rates are the main weapon

Central bankers have waged a war on inflation over the past few years, using high interest rates as their main weapon. Now, countries around the world are seeing the tangible results of these efforts, as inflation has decreased significantly. Global Finance's annual Central Bankers Report Card honors bank leaders whose strategies have outperformed their peers through originality, creativity, and persistence.

The Central Bankers Report Card, published annually since 1994 by Global Finance, grades central bank governors from nearly 100 countries, territories and districts, including the European Union, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Bank of Central African States and the Central Bank of the West.
