Ravichandran Ashwin returns to CSK before IPL 2025, gets big responsibility

Ravichandran Ashwin: Don't be surprised if Ravichandran Ashwin plays for Chennai Super Kings i.e. CSK in IPL 2025, as R Ashwin has joined India Cements again. In this way he has returned to the CSK setup. This return has also given Ashwin a big responsibility. He is going to head the Chennai Super Kings High Performance Center. CSK's High Performance Center is being built on the outskirts of the city and is expected to be fully operational before the start of the next IPL season.

According to the report, this transfer move means that there is a strong possibility that Ashwin might rejoin CSK in the mega auction later this year. This is the big player auction, so the chances of bargaining between CSK and Rajasthan Royals are over, as Rajasthan Royals might not be able to retain Ashwin. The reason behind this is that only 3+1 players are allowed to be retained, in which one player can include himself through RTM.

If CSK is unable to buy Ashwin in the auction, then their only option is to trade him after the player auction. CSK CEO K Vishwanathan said, “It completely depends on the dynamics of the auction, as we cannot control it.” We have to wait and see if the opportunity comes. He said, Ashwin will first take charge of our High Performance Center and handle its cricket-related work, which includes programming and everything else.

We have re-signed him,” the CSK CEO confirmed. He is now part of CSK Ventures and will also play for the India Cements team in the TNCA first-division. Ashwin's move to India Cements has been in the news for the last few years. India Cements organised an event to celebrate Ashwin's 100th Test and 500 wickets ahead of IPL 2024, in which India Cements owner N Srinivasan praised the Indian cricketer. Players from Chennai, Johannesburg and Texas can participate in this HPC.

Taking up this new role, Ashwin said, “My primary aim is to take the game forward and contribute to the world of cricket.” The all-rounder will complete the formalities in the coming weeks when he returns from a short break. Ashwin played for CSK from 2008 to 2015 and the way he performed for the team in 2009 and 2010 gave him a chance to make it to the Indian team. Ashwin has since played for Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals.
