Director Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’, one of the most grand and ambitious films in the history of Indian cinema, is making headlines globally these days. Cinema lovers and Ranbir Kapoor fans around the world are eagerly waiting for the official trailer of this cult mythological film. Meanwhile, just ahead of the film’s trailer premiere, it has received its first major international classification. According to the official website of the Australian Classification Board, a censor certificate has been issued after reviewing a special 34-minute footage of the film. Keeping in mind the “moderate violence” shown in this important part of the film, the board has kept it in ‘M’ (Mature) category.
What does ‘M’ certificate mean in Australia? Special guidelines issued for children
According to the official guidelines of the Australian Censor Board, ‘M’ i.e. Mature classification is a type of advisory rating. Under this, children below 15 years of age are not advised to watch this film alone. Movies in this category may contain some serious themes, scenes or action sequences, which require a mature and mature thinking to understand. Although children under 15 can legally see it in theaters, the board strongly recommends parental guidance.
Synopsis of the film leaked on Australian website: The amazing saga of the prince and princess’s exile
An official and very beautiful short story (Synopsis) of the film has also been posted on the Australian website during the certification process. The synopsis reads, “This is the immortal story of a young prince and princess of an ancient and majestic Indian nation, whose sacred marriage and the journey into exile that follows becomes a story to be remembered in history. This unique saga of love, duty, loyalty and destiny faces many great challenges and evils ahead.” This international rating has come at a time when the makers have completed preparations to bring this big project to the big screen in India.
Got ‘U’ certificate in India: 2 different mega-trailers are coming to create a stir in theaters
Unlike the ‘M’ rating received internationally, India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given the film’s trailer a ‘U’ (universal) certificate without any cuts, respecting the Indian culture and faith, which means that people of all ages can watch it with their families. According to information received from inside sources, the makers are making a mega plan to release not one but two different trailers to give double surprise to the audience. Out of this, the first main trailer will be about 4 minutes long, while the second special trailer is going to be of 4 minutes 15 seconds duration, in which we will get a glimpse of the grand visual effects (VFX) of the film.
Worldwide premiere to be held on 24th July: New beginning of Dharma and Maryada
This grand digital and theatrical trailer of Ramayana is going to be released simultaneously all over the world on 24th July 2026. While officially announcing the trailer, the makers had also shared a very powerful note, which read, “From the holy land of India to the whole world… for thousands of years, Ramayana has inspired every generation by teaching religion, dignity, self-confidence, strength and compassion. Now it is going to have a new and grand beginning on the modern cinematic canvas of the 21st century.”
