Born on 22 August 1964 in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, Ram Madhav studied engineering and then did post graduation in political science. He was earlier associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party from the Sangh and gradually occupied prominent political positions. His political experience extends from Kashmir to north-eastern states.
