Rally of ex-servicemen organized in Lam of Nowshera

Jammu, 30 November (HIST). Indian Army organized an ex-servicemen rally at Lam, Nowshera to reiterate its commitment towards the welfare of ex-servicemen, brave women and their families. The event began with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) laying a wreath at the Shaheedgarh War Memorial to honor the soldiers who made supreme sacrifice for the country. More than 486 participants including ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and dependents participated in the rally.

Help booths were set up to resolve pension-related issues, update service records and provide guidance on availing benefits. Representatives of the civil administration and banks further streamlined the process. An important highlight of the rally was the felicitation of brave women, gallantry award winners and respected brave citizens. These included Basant Singh, who fought as a child soldier under Mohammad Usman during the Indo-Pak war of 1947–48, and Bachittar Singh, SC, who served as a village defense committee member at Qila Darhal in 2000. The terrorist was killed bravely. These individuals were honored with mementos and heartfelt words of appreciation acknowledging their resilience and their invaluable contributions to the nation.

The rally also included a medical camp run by army doctors in which free consultation and essential medicines were distributed. Cultural performances by local students created a lively and engaging atmosphere at the event. In his address the General Officer Commanding (GOC) expressed gratitude towards the veterans and their families for their sacrifice and stressed the Army’s unwavering support for them. He highlighted that such initiatives strengthen the bond between the Army and its veterans.
