Ujjain, August 19 (HS). The festival of Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated with great pomp across the country today on the fifth and last Monday of Sawan. The festival of Raksha Bandhan was first celebrated in the world famous Jyotirlinga Lord Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. At 2.30 in the morning, Lord Mahakal was offered Rakhi by the family of Pandits and priests at the time of Bhasma Aarti. Vedic Rakhi was offered to him and 1.25 lakh Laddus were offered as Prasad.
In fact, all major festivals are celebrated first in the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar temple. According to this tradition, the festival of Shravan Purnima Rakshabandhan was also celebrated in the courtyard of Baba Mahakal on Monday morning during the Bhasma Aarti by singing Mangal Geet and tying a Rakhi to Baba Mahakal. Ashish Pujari of Mahakal temple said that a Vedic Rakhi has been tied to Baba Mahakal on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. It is prepared in seven days. Tulsi and Bilva leaves are also used in it. Only the women of the priest's family make this Rakhi.
This time it was a special coincidence that the month of Sawan started on Monday and it is also ending on Monday today. Devotees started queuing up for darshan at Mahakal temple from Sunday night itself. The doors were opened at 2.30 am on Sunday-Monday night for Bhasma Aarti. Mahakal was divinely decorated in the form of a king in Bhasma Aarti. Due to Rakshabandhan festival, the crowd of devotees in the temple today was worth seeing. Thousands of devotees reached the temple to have darshan of Baba Mahakal. Where they took advantage of the darshan of the Lord through seating arrangement as well as moving Bhasma Aarti.
Pandit Ashish Pujari told that due to the special coincidence today on the full moon of Shravan Shukla Paksha, first of all Baba Mahakal was worshipped with pure water and then Panchamrit, after which he was adorned and ashes were applied. After the Bhasma Aarti performed by Mahanirvani Akhara, Rakshabandhan festival was celebrated with great pomp by tying Vedic Rakhi to Baba Mahakal by the family of Pandit Ashish Sharma. During this, Mawa Mishri Laddu was also offered to Baba Mahakal.
Rakhi making was going on in the temple for 7 days
The women of the priest family were making Vedic Rakhi for Lord Mahakal for seven days. This Rakhi was made by mixing basil leaves, cloves, cardamom, black pepper and other medicines.
One and a quarter lakh laddus were also offered
In the court of Baba Mahakal, along with the special worship of the Lord on Raksha Bandhan, the tradition of offering 1.25 lakh laddus to him has been going on for years. This was the reason that today after the Bhasma Aarti, 1.25 lakh laddus were offered to the Lord. The priest of the temple, Pandit Ghanshyam Guru, offered this offering to the Lord, after which this prasadi was distributed to the devotees.
Here, the last procession of the month of Sawan will be taken out at 4 pm. Mahakal Holkar will come out in the form of Mukharvind to know the condition of the people. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will also join the procession. The CRPF band will accompany him.
