Sultanpur Lodhi: Nine of the Indian girls who were trafficked and sold to Gulf countries by travel agents have returned to their country. These girls were sold by travel agents in Iraq, Oman and Qatar for huge amounts of money, but these girls were not aware of this. Girls who returned from Gulf countries told that 20 to 25 girls are still stuck at one place in Oman. Where helpless girls are being treated worse than animals. The returned girls told that as soon as they came out of the airport, the first thing they did was their passports were taken away and they were kept in a multi-storey building, which they used as an office. It was from here that the girls were sent to work and when they returned to the office, they were locked in the room. These girls said that these rooms were like a prison for them because these rooms were kept locked from outside.

Due to the efforts of Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, these 9 girls belonging to districts Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Firozpur and Moge have returned to their homes. Three of these girls reached Nirmal Kutiya Sultanpur Lodhi today. Narrating his ordeal, he told how in the Gulf countries he was given inhuman torture by luring him with a salary of Rs 35 to 40 thousand per month.

Rajya Sabha member and environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal again appealed to the people of Punjab to avoid sending their daughters to these Gulf countries. Saint Seechewal said that the story of the girls trapped in Arab countries is very sad, how travel agents and especially the relatives of the victim girls take these girls to Arab countries and trap them with the lure of some money. They lure them by promising them big salaries and a good future and later leave them to live a hellish life. Where they have to endure various kinds of tortures and it becomes difficult for them to return.
