Rajya Sabha Chairman accepts Sujeet Kumar's resignation | News India

New Delhi, September 06 (HS). Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday accepted the resignation of Rajya Sabha member Sujit Kumar from Odisha. Sujit was expelled from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

According to the Vice President Secretariat, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has accepted the resignation of Sujeet Kumar from Rajya Sabha with immediate effect, finding it in consonance with Article 101 3(b) of the Constitution.

It is noteworthy that Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) expelled Rajya Sabha member Sujit Kumar from the party for his alleged “anti-party activities”. According to a letter signed by BJD president Naveen Patnaik, Sujit Kumar has disappointed the party that sent him to the Rajya Sabha and hurt the hopes and aspirations of the people of Kalahandi district.
