Khunti, June 26 (HS). World Drug Addiction Day cum Legal Awareness Camp was organized at Birsa College Khunti on Wednesday under the guidance of District and Sessions Judge cum DLSA President Rasikesh Kumar.
Addressing the gathering, DLSA Secretary Rajshree Aparna Kujur said that every year June 26 is observed as Anti-Drug Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking globally. This day symbolizes the various efforts of work and cooperation being done to make the world drug-free. It started on June 26, 1989.
Dalsa Secretary said that today, from children to the elderly, everyone has become a slave to drugs. Drug addiction has become a status symbol today. It is an irony that humans know about the diseases caused by drug addiction, yet they are inviting death themselves. Women have also fallen prey to drug addiction. If this is not stopped, we will have to be ready to face dire consequences in the coming times.
SDO Aniket Sachan, Civil Surgeon Dr Nageshwar Manjhi, College Principal J Kido and all the members of NCW were present in the program.
