New Delhi, 12 October (Hindustan Reporter). Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday performed Shastra Puja at Sukna Cantt in Darjeeling, West Bengal on the occasion of Vijayadashami and celebrated the festival with army personnel. He said that we never attacked any country, because we have no enmity with anyone in our heart. We have fought wars only when a country has disrespected our integrity and sovereignty. Worshiping the weapon is a symbol, which can be used with full force when needed.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reached Sukna Cantt on Friday on a two-day visit. He was to attend the military commanders' conference at a forward location in Gangtok, Sikkim but he could not reach there due to bad weather in Gangtok, hence the Defense Minister delivered his address in virtual mode from the military installation in Sukna. At night he attended the Army's prestigious 'Barakhana' of military officers and dined with everyone. The Defense Minister today celebrated the Dussehra festival by performing Shastra Puja puja, a traditional ceremony of seeking blessings for weapons and military personnel, at Sukna Cantt in West Bengal.

In his address, he said that we all know that today's festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil. When Lord Rama conquered evil Ravana it was a victory for humanity. The Defense Minister said that we can see that there is no possibility of any incident due to the alert presence of our armed forces on the borders. Despite this, in the current situation, we cannot ignore any possible mischief from the neighbors. Since assuming charge of the Defense Ministry, I have always emphasized that there should be no lack of preparedness, whatever the global scenario. We all should always be actively prepared with all the options. We must remain steadfast towards national security, this is what we need.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh then virtually dedicated to the nation 75 transformative infrastructure projects of BRO across 11 states and union territories to enhance connectivity and strategic readiness, thereby paving the way for a more secure nation. He said that I am extremely happy to dedicate this project to the nation from the holy land of Sikkim. All these 75 projects in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Andaman and Nicobar Islands will help in strengthening the borders of the country and the socio-economic progress of these areas. Great symbols of our commitment in ensuring.

He said that if I talk about the entire North East region, there are many such projects in this region, which are proving to be a lifeline for the people here. I also include the historic Sela Tunnel, which is an important project in terms of development here. This tunnel is a wonderful example of cutting-edge technology and engineering. Similarly, we have made good progress in terms of operations by constructing roads and bridges on the India-China border. Last year, when the devastating cloud burst accident in October affected the life of Sikkim, our BRO soldiers came forward with great promptness and helped in disaster management by quickly restoring the connectivity here.
