Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached the Central Hall of the Old Parliament to attend the NDA Parliamentary meeting. All 293 NDA MPs, Rajya Sabha MPs and Chief Ministers and Deputy CMs of all states are present in it.
BJP President JP Nadda gave the welcome speech. After this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh proposed the name of Narendra Modi for the post of Prime Minister. Amit Shah seconded it and Nitin Gadkari seconded the proposal.
According to sources, after the NDA meeting ends in the Centre Hall of Parliament, the leaders of the alliance will stake claim to form the government today. Modi can take oath as Prime Minister for the third time at 6 pm on June 9 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The entire cabinet can take oath along with Modi.
The first meeting of the NDA was held on June 5 at 4 pm at the PM residence. 21 leaders from 16 parties attended the one-hour meeting. All had chosen Modi as the leader of the NDA, but in today's parliamentary party meeting, assuming the 17th Lok Sabha is dissolved, Modi will be officially elected as the leader of the NDA. However, Modi is the caretaker Prime Minister until the new government is formed.
