UP-Bihar Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday (August 16) that a low pressure area is forming in the northwest Bay of Bengal, West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh. According to the Meteorological Department, due to this, heavy rains are expected in many parts of India for the next two-three days. The low pressure area is expected to move north-northwest in the next 2 days. After this, it is likely to move towards the Gangetic plains of Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal. Then, in the next 3 days, it is expected to move towards western Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and adjoining areas.

“The low pressure area will move towards Rajasthan after crossing Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. After the next three days, we can expect widespread rain over northwest India as well,” IMD director general (DG) M Mohapatra said.

Rain warning in these districts of UP

Heavy rains are expected over western Uttar Pradesh including Bahraich, Shravasti, Lakhimpur Kheri and Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh. A cyclonic circulation also lies over south interior Karnataka and adjoining areas. It has now moved from north interior Karnataka to Comorin area. IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka in the next 2-3 days.

Heavy rain warning in Rajasthan

The circulation system formed over north-eastern Rajasthan is now slowly moving towards western Rajasthan. Due to its effect, heavy rains are expected in some parts of Jodhpur, Ajmer and Bikaner during the next 24 hours. Jaipur Meteorological Center in-charge and spokesperson Radheshyam Sharma told PTI that till Friday morning, light to moderate rains occurred at some places in Alwar, Sikar, Karauli, Kota, Bhilwara, Tonk, Jaisalmer and Barmer districts.

According to Sharma, during the last 24 hours, very heavy rain was recorded at some places in Jaipur, Dausa, Baran, Nagaur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Pali and Sawai Madhopur districts. According to the spokesperson, till 8:30 am on Friday, the highest rainfall in eastern Rajasthan was recorded at 220 mm in Hindoli of Bundi district and 172 mm in Kolayat of Bikaner in western Rajasthan. During this time, light to moderate rain was recorded in many areas.

Relief expected next week

The Meteorological Department in-charge said that heavy rains are likely to stop in many districts and divisions of the state from Saturday (August 17) evening. There is a strong possibility of clear skies and sunny weather in most parts of these divisions during August 17 to 22.

Sharma said that another round of heavy rains is expected in the last week of August. More than 50 people were trapped in Padajhar waterfall due to heavy rains in Rawatbhata of Chittorgarh district on Thursday. However, the SDRF team rescued them safely.

Police said that on Thursday many people had gone to the waterfall in the forest, but they got stuck in the forest as the path to the waterfall was submerged in water. A vehicle of the SDRF team also got stuck in the mud. But on Friday morning all 53 people were rescued safely.
