Railways will lay new tracks this year at a cost of Rs 50 thousand crore

This year, new tracks will be laid at a cost of Rs 50 thousand crore. So that India's huge railway network can be equipped with safe and fast tracks, for the last few years the central government has been continuously increasing the budget for laying new tracks. Then this backend expenditure can increase rapidly by 32 percent compared to the allocation made in the interim budget of February.

More financial allocation in the general budget to be released in July will help the railways expand its network. With more budget allocation, the railways will be able to expand its network, especially in areas with high passenger flow and between two fast-growing cities.

The railways had set aside Rs 21,000 crore, Rs 26,000 crore and Rs 34,500 crore for the financial years 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 respectively. In the interim budget for the financial year 2024-25, it was increased to Rs 36,000 crore. Of course, there was no significant increase in adding new tracks annually despite the budget allocation of a higher amount due to better quality tracks and higher construction costs to run trains safely at high speed. The new lines will be laid as part of the railways' Vision 2047 document, under which one lakh km of tracks are expected to be added in 25 years. There is a plan to lay 25 thousand km of new tracks in the next five years. For which an investment of Rs 3.5 trillion will be made. There is a plan to lay 5,000 to 5,500 km of new railway lines annually. It is worth noting that the government wants to expand the Vande Bharat train to more cities. For which it is necessary to provide strong tracks of good quality. Only when this condition is fulfilled, Vande Bharat will be able to run at a speed of 200 km. The entire focus of the railways is on increasing the infrastructure. This also includes the idea of expanding the network through new lines. During the year 2004 to 2014, the railways laid 14,285 km. During the year 2014 to 2024, 31,180 km long railway line was laid. A long railway line has been laid.
