Kolkata, September 04 (HS). Eastern Railway on Wednesday said that it is considering taking legal action against Trinamool Congress MLA Kanai Chandra Mandal for misbehaving with a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) in the train.
However, MLA Mandal claims that the TTE had misbehaved with him and he has lodged a complaint with the railway authorities in this matter.
Eastern Railway spokesperson Kaushik Mitra said that the woman passenger travelling with the Navgram MLA did not have the correct ticket in her name, and a dispute arose over this issue. He alleged that Mandal misbehaved with the TTE on duty. Due to this, Eastern Railway is considering legal action in this matter and is consulting its lawyers and senior officials.
This incident happened on Monday when Mandal was travelling in the Malda-Howrah Intercity Express. A woman was also travelling next to him who did not have a valid ticket. When the TTE raised an objection regarding this, it is alleged that the MLA misbehaved with her.
The MLA group, on the other hand, claimed that the woman passenger was from their constituency and had requested to change her general ticket to the chair car class in which she was seated.
Alleging that the TTE refused to accept his request and misbehaved with him, Mandal said that he has lodged a complaint with the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Howrah regarding this matter.
