Rampurhat, 24 September (HS). Before Durga Puja, special arrangements have been made by the railways for the passengers going to visit Rampurhat, Tarapith and other Shaktipeeths. Actually, during the Puja, a crowd of devotees throngs these places. Keeping this in mind, the Eastern Railway has increased the number of coaches in five trains going to and coming from Rampurhat.
According to railway sources, trains with new coaches will run from Tuesday. Railway officials believe that this will control the crowd to a great extent. Since last Saturday, one general and three AC coaches have been added to two trains Sealdah-Rampurhat and Howrah-Malda Express. At the same time, three additional coaches are being added to Howrah-Rampurhat Express, Ganadevata Express and Kaviguru Express from Tuesday. These include one chair car, one sleeper and one three-AC coach. These three trains are more popular trains for Bolpur, Tarapith. Additional coaches will remain in the trains permanently so that later passengers can travel in these trains.
According to sources in the operations and commercial department of Howrah division, Shaktipeeths like Tarapeeth are always crowded with devotees. There are many other Satipeeths in this area. There is a crowd of devotees there too. Due to the increase in crowd by the end of the week, passengers are not able to get seats in trains. Many times they have to bear the trouble of travelling standing for about three, three and a half hours. This also leads to accidents. Looking at the situation, the railways has decided to provide additional coaches for the safety of the passengers.
