Railways gives lower berths to senior citizens

IRCTC has given information about allocating lower berths to senior citizens. A passenger had tweeted that he had booked a train ticket for his uncle and had opted for the lower berth, as his uncle had a problem in his leg, but despite this the railways had given him the upper berth.

Railways told the method of booking

According to the passenger's tweet, the railway wrote that if you book a ticket as per the general quota, then the seat is allotted only when a seat is allotted. If there is no seat, then you will not get that seat. If you book a ticket as per reservation choice book, then you will get a lower berth only when a lower berth is allotted.

Lower berths are available on first come first serve basis.

Rules for women

Female passengers aged 45 years or above and pregnant women also get lower berths in the train. In case of express trains like Rajdhani, Duronto and Phuli, 4 lower berths are booked in 3AC. 4 lower berths are booked in general and mail express trains.
