Waiting Ticket Rules: A new exercise is going to start to prevent overcrowding in trains. If the suggestions given by NER are implemented, the number of passengers with waiting tickets will decrease drastically and passengers with confirmed berths will be able to travel comfortably. In the new system, only 10 percent more waiting tickets will be issued after the automatic waiting list. For example, if 40 waiting tickets in a train get automatically confirmed, then a total of 44 waiting tickets will be issued in that train.
Actually, after the implementation of AI (Artificial Intelligence) based reservation system, many important changes are to be made. In this context, the board has sought suggestions from all the regional railways regarding the reservation system. In this sequence, Northeast Railway has prepared a new formula for waiting. With this system, PRS (Passenger Reservation System) will automatically check the confirmed tickets every day. On the basis of that checking, 10 percent more waiting will be issued.
Work in the first phase is expected to begin by December
CRIS (Reservation and Information System Centre) has sought the PRS list of all three divisions of Northeast Railway. As per the demand, NER has sent the report of PRS location and number of systems of all three divisions. PRS system works at 196 stations of Northeast Railway. In the first phase, this technology will start from December.
