Ramgarh, 03 July (HS). Indian Railways has set a new record by earning 8114 crores in the first quarter of the current financial year 2024-25. From April to June 2024, the Railways has received a preliminary income of Rs 8114.33 crore from all other sources including 6789.98 crores from freight and 1171.10 crores from passenger traffic. The preliminary income received till June last year is 7.95 percent more than Rs 7516.57 crore.
Chief Public Relations Officer Saraswati Chandra informed that in the first quarter of the current financial year, about 6.07 crore passengers were transported to their destinations by East Central Railway. This is 10.75 percent more than the 5.48 crore passengers travelled by East Central Railway during the same period last year. An income of Rs 1171.10 crore was received from passenger traffic in the first quarter. This income is 15.55 percent more than the income of Rs 1013.49 crore received in the same period last year.
Summer special train earned 181 crores
In view of the high rush of passengers during summer vacations in the current financial year, a total of 216 summer special trains made 1625 trips from various stations of East Central Railway to various cities of the country from April to June. Revenue of Rs 181.59 crore was received from these.
A fine of Rs 68.50 crore was collected from 10.50 lakh passengers
East Central Railway is keeping a strict watch on passengers travelling without ticket or proper authority. A continuous campaign is being carried out to prevent this, so that passengers travelling with proper tickets do not face any difficulties. In this connection, a total of 10.47 lakh passengers travelling without ticket or without proper authority were caught in the first quarter of the current financial year. A total revenue of Rs 68.55 crore was received in the form of fine from them.
