According to Indian Railways rules, if a passenger has a general coach ticket, he can travel in another train of the same category without any hassle. If a passenger travels in another category of train, he may have to pay a fine. Because, premium trains like Passenger, Mail-Express, Superfast, Rajdhani Express and Vande Bharat have different categories and ticket prices. General tickets are not allowed in many such trains.
If you have a confirmed ticket with reservation, what to do if you miss the train?
Whereas if a passenger has a reservation ticket, then if he misses his train, he cannot travel in another train with that ticket. If caught traveling in another train, TTE considers the passenger as ticketless. Besides, as per rules, fine can also be imposed on him. How to file TDR offline and online? What is its method?
After missing the train, the reservation ticket made at the counter has to be submitted at the counter itself by filling in the correct reason in the TDR (TDR Filing Rules) form. Whereas, for e-ticket, TDR has to be filed by logging into IRCTC site or app. For this, after logging in, one has to click on the train option. After this, one has to click on the File TDR option and click on the File TDR option. Then after seeing the ticket one has to tick it and click on File TDR. After this, as soon as the reason is selected, TDR filing is done online. After this, the refund amount comes to the account or wallet of the person making the payment within a maximum of 60 days.
What are the rules regarding reservation ticket cancellation and refund?
According to Indian Railways rules, no refund is given on cancellation of tickets booked under Tatkal facility. At the same time, if you cancel the confirmed ticket within 48 hours and 12 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train, then up to 25 percent of the total amount can be deducted. If you cancel your ticket between 12 to 4 hours before the scheduled departure time, 50 percent of the amount will be deducted.
Waitlisted and RAC tickets are refunded only if they are canceled 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train. However, all these features are available before the train leaves; After missing the train, TDR is the only solution.
