Prayagraj, 26 August (HS). The Integrated Pension Scheme (UPS) approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come into effect from April 1, 2025. To avail the benefits of this scheme, all employees will be given the option to choose either NPS or UPS. The Integrated Pension Scheme has a provision to give 'assured pension' to the employees.
These things were said by North Central Railway's Principal Chief Personnel Officer Anurag Tripathi and Divisional Railway Manager Himanshu Badoni during a press conference held in the “Sankalp” auditorium of the Divisional Office on Monday. Indian Railways is the largest organization in the country. More than 13 lakh employees are serving here. All these employees will get the benefit of this scheme.
Anurag Tripathi, Principal Chief Personnel Officer of North Central Railway, said that the Government of India has come up with a wonderful scheme. Under this scheme, pension of 50 percent of the average basic salary received in the last 12 months before retirement will be given for a minimum qualifying service of 25 years. This salary will be proportional for less service period up to a minimum service period of 10 years. Under this scheme, 60 percent of the employee's pension will be given to his family just before his death under the assured family pension. In this scheme, the assured minimum pension on retirement after a minimum service of 10 years will be Rs 10,000 per month. The employee or the employee's family will also get the benefit of inflation index on assured pension, assured family pension and assured minimum pension.
It is noteworthy that a total of 69,110 employees and officers are working in North Central Railway, out of which 55,587 employees are under NPS (New Pension Scheme) and 13,523 are under OPS (Old Pension Scheme). Apart from this, there are 6335 employees who are not in service due to various reasons like retirement, VRS or death. Thus, a total of 61,922 employees and officers in North Central Railway are under NPS. Who will be given the right to choose UPS or NPS. A total of 27,518 employees and officers of Prayagraj division are under NPS (New Pension Scheme). In which a total of 26,000 working, 1518 (retired, VRS and death) employees and officers are under NPS.
Chief Public Relations Officer Shashikant Tripathi, Additional Divisional Railway Manager General Sanjay Singh, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Manish Kumar Khare, PRO Amit Malvi, Amit Kumar Singh, Ragini and others were present in the press conference.
