Mumbai: Mumbai Police busted three Bagas call centers operating in Jogeshwari, Oshiwara and Char Colony areas and arrested 36 people, including women. These people mainly cheated foreign nationals in the name of loans and selling banned drugs.
According to more information in this regard, the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police had received specific information about this crime syndicate. Based on this, the police raided fake call centers in Oshiwara and Arecolony areas of the western suburbs. These people used to sell loans and banned medicines in India. After the police received information, 10 to 12 teams were formed. Police also raided Allwyn Info Media and Gate Pharmacy in Behram Bagh, Jogeshwari, from where police seized two fake call centres. These people were cheating foreign citizens by contacting them through VoIP. These people were selling illegal drugs online to foreign nationals by falsely identifying themselves as representatives of a pharmaceutical company and accepting payments in dollars into the accounts of several specific banks.
The third such fake call center was running in Royal Palms area of Ere Colony. Dhansuvidha Finance Company was run through this call centre. These people were collecting money in the name of processing fees. The Crime Branch arrested a total of 36 people including women from this fake call centre. Police seized 33 mobile phones, computers, laptops, hard disk monitors, CPUs, routers and registered a case under various sections and conducted further investigation.
