The war of words between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified regarding the opposition ‘Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao’ mega rally going to be held on November 1 in Delhi, the center of Indian politics. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has taunted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with a sharp verbal attack. Rahul Gandhi said that the ruling party, albeit unknowingly, is giving maximum publicity to the ‘vote theft’ mega rally of the opposition Congress.
Issuing a statement on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Rahul Gandhi quipped and said that BJP leaders and their allies are working to take this program to as many people as possible. Addressing the BJP leaders, he wrote in a sarcastic tone that he wholeheartedly thanks BJP for this and appeals to them to maintain the same zeal, dedication and enthusiasm for campaigning for the next 7 days.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has formally announced ‘Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao’ mass march and huge rally on 1 November 2026 at the historic Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. Rahul Gandhi has given an open invitation to every section of the society—students, farmers, laborers, women, youth and businessmen—to join this historic mass movement.
Rahul Gandhi alleges that voter lists are being manipulated on a large scale in the country and the voting rights of common citizens are being curtailed. Giving a message to the public, he said that voting is your fundamental right and this fight to save it is completely yours. Leaders of the opposition ‘India’ alliance have also given their full support to this rally and workers from across the country have been instructed to reach Delhi.
The main allegation of the Congress and opposition parties is that in many states and constituencies, names of legitimate voters are being removed from the voter list by ignoring the rules and regulations. Rahul Gandhi said in clear words that vote theft and violation of democratic rights will no longer be tolerated silently under any circumstances.
As a strategy, Congress is working on a plan to take this issue directly to the people. Party leaders claim that when questions arise on the transparency of the electoral process, the only way left is to protect democracy by taking to the streets. Under this strategy, preparations have been made for a show of strength at Ramlila Maidan on November 1.
Immediately after Rahul Gandhi’s statements and the announcement of the November 1 rally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also launched a strong counterattack. BJP leaders have accused Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party of defaming constitutional institutions and the Election Commission.
BJP spokespersons say that whenever Congress faces defeat in elections, it starts making false and fabricated allegations on EVMs and voter lists. BJP hit back at Congress saying that the opposition has lost its political ground and is creating drama with such rallies only to divert attention.
In view of this huge mass march to be held on November 1, Delhi Police and Central Security Forces have come on alert mode. A detailed blueprint is being prepared to maintain smooth traffic and security arrangements in Ramlila Maidan and its surrounding areas of Central Delhi.
At the same time, business organizations and local bodies are demanding security and traffic ease keeping in mind the festival season. However, politically, this rally is being considered very important in the upcoming elections of many states and in deciding the direction of the national discussion.
