When Dravid arrived at the Bangalore Cricket Academy, the budding players raised their bats in his honour and the coaching staff of the academy welcomed Dravid with thunderous applause. Dravid greeted the people present there with a smile and shook hands with everyone. Dravid made his debut for India in 1996 and represented the country till 2012. Like everyone else, Dravid also dreamt of becoming a world champion. However, he managed to fulfil this dream as a coach.

Under the captaincy of Dravid, the Indian team went to participate in the ODI World Cup held in the West Indies in 2007, but the team's performance was disappointing and India's journey ended in the group stage itself. Dravid became the coach of the Indian team in 2021 and during his tenure as coach, the team reached the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup, the final of the 2023 World Test Championship and the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Although the Indian team did not get success at that time, Dravid eventually succeeded in making the team the world champion in the last tournament of his tenure. It was under Dravid's leadership that the team won the Asia Cup title by defeating Sri Lanka last year. In a video shared by the Bengaluru Local Cricket Academy, Dravid expressed happiness on returning to the field and nurturing emerging talents.
