Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge reached Srinagar today for a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Both the leaders have visited the state to review the party's preparations in view of the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

Congress may form an alliance with National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir. Party supporters and workers gave a grand welcome to both the leaders.

It is worth noting that the three-phase assembly elections in the state are starting from September 18. Tomorrow both the leaders will meet party workers and leaders from 10 districts of Kashmir Valley. This meeting will start at 10 am tomorrow.

According to party sources, both the leaders may also meet National Conference leaders to form an alliance before the elections.

However, according to Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Kara, the visit of the two leaders was planned even before the announcement of the election date. This visit has nothing to do with the discussion on alliance.

After meeting party workers in Srinagar, both the leaders will go to Jammu. Leaders and workers from 10 districts will also meet there.
