Rag tied on the occasion of Holi was stolen and recovered

Champawat, March 22 (Hindustan Reporter) The mischievous elements stole the rag (mark) that was tied at the district headquarters on the occasion of the inauguration of Holi. People were shocked as soon as they got information about rag theft from Mallihat in Champawat market. The rag was stolen on Thursday night. After getting information about the matter on Friday morning, the police recovered it after a whole day's search. The matter was resolved after the accused apologized. The police have challaned all four accused under the Police Act.

Holi/Cheer of Mallihat of the city is more than 100 years old. Child Welfare Committee Chairman Sudhir Sah says that except for one year, this rag was continuously tied at the fixed place in Mallihat. Just once it was tied in Nagnath temple. It is believed that tying a rag prevents the entry of evil forces and brings happiness, peace and prosperity. It is burnt on the day of Holika Dahan.

This time, on the day of Holikashtami, March 20, the tying of the rag was done as per the auspicious time. From all the houses in the locality, colorful pieces of new cloth were tied in a long iron pipe in the form of a rag, but on the morning of March 22, the pipe with the rag was missing. On getting information about the incident, the people of the locality were shocked.

The case has been reported to police The police team led by CO BC Pant and Kotwal Yogesh Upadhyay reached the spot. After this the police came into action and recovered the rag and iron pipe. When the accused apologized and tied the rag at the same place in Mallihat, the Mallihat Holi Committee did not file a case against the accused. Kotwal Yogesh Upadhyay says that the four accused were issued challan under the Police Act and released with a warning.
