Rae Bareli-Prayagraj Highway 106KM is being widened; These districts will benefit

NHAI Chairman Santosh Yadav expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in the work of four lane Rae Bareli-Prayagraj Highway. Expressing his displeasure at the NHAI officials, he said that the work on this project should be completed by December at any cost. The widening work of this highway is being done at a cost of Rs 1636 crore. Under this, 106 kilometers of road is being widened.

On Wednesday, the Chairman reviewed the works of NHAI along with State Principal Secretary Urban Development Amrit Abhijat and Principal Secretary PWD Ajay Chauhan in the auditorium of the Fair Authority. Rae Bareli-Prayagraj Highway is also included in the important projects of NHAI. 82 km from Rae Bareli to Lucknow on the Prayagraj-Lucknow National Highway is already four-lane, whereas there was only two lanes from Rae Bareli to Prayagraj.

From Prayagraj to Rae Bareli, a total of 24.14 km bypass and bridge on Sai river is being built in Jagatpur, Babuganj, Unchahar and Anapur. Due to heavy traffic from Nawabganj to Malak Harhar, the highway is being made six lane for about 8.5 kilometers. Four lane will be constructed for 18 kilometers from Lal Gopalganj to Nawabganj. This highway will provide a lot of convenience to the devotees coming from Lucknow as well as Bareilly, Moradabad and Uttarakhand and many districts of Western Uttar Pradesh.
Chairman reviewed

The Chairman reviewed all the works related to the Ring Road and the six-lane bridge being built on the Ganga, point by point. He discussed in detail the problems related to material, manpower and funds in the works with the Project Directors of the three projects, understanding the goals of their weekly micro plan. Wherever problems related to material or manpower emerged in all three projects, they were resolved.

He directed to bring the required progress in the works by seeking resources and manpower from other cities of NHAI. He instructed all the project directors to review the progress of the works daily and submit reports. He clarified that he himself would review the progress of the works through video conferencing.

He also directed to make special arrangements for operation and maintenance on all NHAI roads related to Maha Kumbh, so that minor repair works can be done immediately if needed. In view of this work, he asked each operation and maintenance agency to appoint a special team leader.

Ambulances should be deployed on highways, hospitals should be mapped

The Chairman said that BLS and ALS (Advanced Life Support) ambulances should be arranged on all NHAI roads related to Maha Kumbh. Instructions were given to map all the hospitals located around those roads and make arrangements to reach the nearest hospital in case of emergency. Instructions were given to deploy incident vehicles on all roads.

Instructions were also given to make advance traffic management system, painting on dividers, fog reflectors and adequate lighting on all roads. All regional officers and project directors should prepare and present a road-wise security plan after talking to their security advisors.

Principal Secretary Urban Development also directed to install multilingual sign boards in the required format on all NHAI roads in compliance with IRC guidelines. Principal Secretary, Public Works Department asked to organize regular review meetings to monitor all the works and Divisional Commissioner asked the NHAI officials to work by establishing better coordination with the officials of all the concerned districts.
